Hydroton is basically a growing medium made of extended clay pebbles which has a physical structure much like pumice or scoria however unlike the others Hydroton is generally smooth and is great for all Hydroponic growers with any style of hydroponic garden. But, they are most liked by hydroponics growers who grow flowers and selected vegetables, and often used for decorative purposes around the top of your potted plants. The Hydroton balls come in around 4-8mm in size.
Moisture: A huge positive with using Hydroton as a media is that it offers moisture retention. This feature is not found in any other growing medium, but is vitally important if you are to reuse your media, Hydroton creates the perfect balance of moisture which prevents roots from drying out or drowning in water/nutrients.
